Crocheted Preemie Sweater
Hook size H
Yarn: Caron One Pound yarn or any 4-ply of the same weight. (Preferably a soft yarn)
Abbreviations: ch=chain sc=single crochet dc=double crochet sk=skip BO= bind off
Back: Ch 25.
Row 1: Sc into 2nd ch from hook and into remaining chains across. (24 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc into back loop only of last sc, and into remaining back loops all of the way across the row.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures approximately 7 inches. BO
Front (Make two): Ch 25.
Row 1: Sc into 2nd ch from hook and into remaining chains across. (24 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc into back loop only of last sc, and into remaining back loops all of the way across the row.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures approximately 3 ½ inches. On one of the two front pieces: with 7 sc left to do, 2sc in current hole. Then, sk two sc, and 2sc into third hole. Then, sk two sc, and 2sc into third hole. Sc into last hole and BO.
Sleeves (Make two): Ch 23.
Row 1: Sc into 2nd ch from hook and into remaining chains across. (22 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc into back loop only of last sc, and into remaining back loops all of the way across the row.
After approximately 4 rows, start decreasing by 1-2 stitches every several rows until sleeve reaches desired length and circumference. Do not make sleeve too tight or it will constrict the baby’s arms. BO but leave long tail.
Edging (sleeves only): 4 sc into one sc, sk three sc, sc into next sc, and 4 dc into same hole until end is reached. BO and then join pieces.
